004-022-711 Job Type: Permanent Title: Analyst / Buy Side (Energy/Utilities/Industrials/Materials) Location: Chicago Description: Summary: Multi-billion dollar investment management firm seeks an associate-level Analyst with prior buy-side experience to join their team and provide sector specialization in Energy/Utilities/Industrials/Materials, supporting a portfolio management team investing across market caps/sectors Responsibilities: Monitor fundamental/technical trends affecting domestic/global companies in assigned sectors/portfolios to generate appropriate investment ideas and contribute to asset allocation decisions. Research/evaluate/recommend new investment ideas/weighting changes that meet investment objectives for assigned portfolios; analyze earnings reports/published research/internally generated data/technical factors. Conduct regular research on existing holdings to ensure they continue to meet stated investment objectives Communicate conviction levels on individual stocks held in portfolios for assigned sectors. Meet regularly with, and present recommendations/written summaries to firm’s Portfolio Managers on assigned portfolios; interact with investment management/research staff/brokers/company management/traders/outside investment analysts/etc. Attend company road shows/participate in analyst and management conference calls. Requirements: 2-6 years investment analysis/research/selection experience in the equity markets with specialist sector expertise in Energy/Utilities/Industrials/Materials. Bachelor’s Degree required; progress toward an MBA/Master’s Degree and/or CFA is preferred. Buy-side experience strongly preferred; sell-side experience will be considered, but must be a “stock picker”.
